The title of this album refers to Greil Marcus' musical, philosophical and social essay: "Lipstick Traces: A Secret History of the 20th Century". As we did before with our split-CD 'We are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars', which was a quotation from Oscar Wilde, and our 'Rock My Reality' EP, which was a wink to "Rock My Religion", the work of the ex-rock critic (and nowadays artist) Dan Graham who, by the end of the 70's, aimed at putting forward our society's artificial and contradictory ideologies, we decided to work with another rock critic whose thesis was appealing. "Lipstick Traces" is a very important essay, helping us to understand today's popular culture and its links with society. The author tries to explain the rejection of social and cultural values, which is the base of the punk movement; he based this on the refusal of capitalism which, he argues, reduces people, art and ideas to market values.

"The Secret History of the 20th century" developed in this essay is a resistance to anything that makes our existence and culture nothing more than simple consumables. It puts into prospect Dada (le Cabaret Voltaire) with Situationists (Debord and "the society of the spectacle") and the punk movement. Resist to Exist.

Greil Marcus is a rock critic who held a philosophy in the way of Francfort's school.
